Making Better use of Assets

After employees, the largest cost to public sector bodies is what they spend on their fixed assets - land, property, vehicles and equipment. The NEIEP and our partners are helping to identify under-utilised assets and reduce the cost of ownership by increasing energy efficiency that will deliver over £25m savings by 2013.

Carbon Management Planning

The North East was the first region in the UK to sign all local authorities and FRSs up to the Carbon Trust Carbon Management Plan. Each authority will work to implement new behaviours and technologies to reduce the region's greenhouse gas emissions and fuel costs. A Regional Climate Change Best Practice Group has been established to monitor and share examples of good practice and encourage a collective approach to addressing common issues.
