Workforce Common Core, Induction and eCAF
This project aims to support the development of a world-class regional children's services workforce which:
- Strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children and young people,and reduce inequalities between the most disadvantaged and the rest;
- Is competent, confident and safe to work with children and young people, families and carers
- Nurtures trust and the respect of parents, carers, children and young people
This will be achieved through collaborative approaches to workforce reform and development which complements and adds value to local integrated workforce strategies.
Induction
The priority for the induction element of the project was to develop approaches to induction which support induction into the wider children's workforce (linked to Common Core skills and knowledge for the children's workforce and CWDC Induction Standards).
As part of this process a workshop was held in July 2009 to disseminate information and reflect upon centrally produced guidance and materials supporting common approaches to induction, consider approaches developed in other areas, along with a local example of practice, and apply the subsequent learning to local and regional planning activity.
The final report of the workshop including evaluation can be found here.
Common Core
The priority for the common core element of the project, identified by the North East Safeguarding Children Trainers Group, was to support the safeguarding strand of Common Core by developing training materials and resources for Managing Allegations against Staff, Carers and Volunteers.
A number of training materials have been produced as part of this project which can be adapted locally to support training on Managing Allegations against Staff, Carers and Volunteers. These include:
Managing Allegations against Staff, Carers and Volunteers Workshop - a presentation and training notes have been produced to support local workshops on this issue.
Managing Allegations against Staff, Carers and Volunteers Team Briefing - a presentation on this issue has been developed to support teams who may be involved with this issue.
Feedback from events to roll out the Managing Allegations training materials can be found here.
