Regional Leadership Programme

The Programme aimed to deliver a culture of enhanced collaborative leadership amongst leading elected Members and senior officers across a broad agenda, particularly economic development and regeneration, and improvement and efficiency.

The Programme was constructed around the anticipated demands that the Sub National Review (SNR) context and new unitary local government landscape (from April 2009) would place on the elected Members of the Association of North East Councils (ANEC), and on those council and Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) leaders operating in a regional role.

The Programme also provided an opportunity to work with council and FRS leaders to embed their leadership of the improvement and efficiency agenda so that momentum is maintained well beyond the life of the RIEP.
