Regional Leadership Projects

A number of projects and events are currently being planned with the input of elected members and senior officers.

Supporting the regional 'top team' of Leaders and Mayors in their North East place-shaping role.

The project will provide a number of regional 'top team' development days for Members and Chief Executives later in 2009. Members are engaged in designing the programme. Additional personal and leadership development activities (for example the IDeA Leadership Academy) will be available as per Members' requirements.

A 'Building on Success' conference is planned for 2010.

The regional event follows on from two successful events held in 2006 and 2008. It will bring together corporate/senior management teams from all 12 councils and 4 Fire &Rescue Services to strengthen networks and relationships, and build unity of purpose around priority regional issues.

A regional conference for elected members - 8 January 2010.

The Summit 2010 will deal with issues of the economic downturn and impact on region / Sub National Review developments.

Supporting leading Fire & Rescue Authority Members and Chief Officers in their collective leadership role

FRS Members and Chief Officers are engaged in designing the programme through the Regional Management Board which is convened by the Association of North East Councils
(ANEC). Development activity underway is linked to strategic priorities including:

  • Addressing shared operational challenges
  • Delivering efficiencies
  • Improving partnership working
  • Reviewing Regional Management Board arrangements
