All North East Improvement & Efficiency Partners are aware that there is a huge amount of waste in how services are delivered - both within and between local organisations. Our signature projects, which will release £51m, illustrate how shared services can deliver benefits and build capacity for authorities to streamline their own processes.

North East & National Recruitment Portals

In order to simplify public sector recruitment in the North East, a regional online portal for job vacancies in every local authority and FRS has been created. This means that jobseekers need only visit one site to view all available local government positions. The quality of service they receive is also standardised and improved. For authorities, advertising costs are cut and back office procedures streamlined, producing significant efficiency savings. The NEIEP is currently working with RIEPs across the country to set up similar portals in each English region.

These portals aim to reach the greatest number of potential candidates with the least cost to partner authorities whilst providing a high level of customer service. They are expected to achieve savings of over £13m by 2013.
