Carbon Reduction Capital Innovation Fund 2009-10
Background
The Climate Change Best Practice project aims to provide assistance to local authorities and fire and rescue services to better enable them to respond to the challenge of climate change. We intend to do this through capacity building, the identification and facilitation of the exchange of good practice and the testing of new solutions; in particular options for enabling local authorities and FRS to reduce their own energy use. One of the sub-projects within the Climate Change Best Practice Project is the
Carbon Reduction Capital Innovation Fund.
Funding for this Carbon Reduction Capital Innovation Fund has been drawn from the national Efficiency and Transformation Fund, it is capital funding. In total we have £425k available for projects completing in March 2010. We have divided this into two funds, a major projects pot (375k) for between one to four projects with a minimum value of 50k (up to 375k), and a small projects fund (50k) for projects between £5k and £25k.
Purpose
We have secured this funding with a view to providing local authorities and fire and rescue services with an opportunity to introduce and test innovative new approaches to improving energy efficiency on the public sector estate.
We anticipate this funding being used to enable local authorities and FRS to undertake proof of concept work, establish demonstration sites and to compare and contrast alternative products/processes. Projects should focus on technologies and processes likely to have a 3-5 year payback. Whatever form of project is undertaken it should have broad application within the local government/FRS context (work with schools can be included).
The deadline for submissions was 14th August 2009. If you have any queries please contact Bill Kirkup (Tel 07766 500 054)
